Fall is Here!
The official arrival of fall welcomes a new season and here at the Orange County Library System, we hope to welcome you to one of our 15 locations this month. In addition to bestsellers, the latest DVDs, free computer classes and more, we have plenty of exciting programs on tap in October.
If the photos from your summer vacation are still sitting in a box or envelope, join us for the Creating Memories program at the West Oaks branch on Saturday, October 6 at 11:30 a.m. In this fun and entertaining program, you’ll learn simple tips for creating a beautiful scrapbook. Best of all, it’s free and all materials are provided. Just bring your photos and we’ll take care of the rest!
With all eyes on the environment, there’s never been a better time to become eco-friendly. Learn about “green homes” from Alex Kane of Heritage Green LLC and discover how to make your home more environmentally friendly and energy efficient. This program will be offered at the Herndon Branch on Tuesday, October 16 and at the Edgewater Branch on Monday, October 22. Both programs are at 7 p.m.
The 50th anniversary celebration of Jack Kerouac’s famous novel The Dharma Bums continues with book discussions at the Edgewater and Alafaya Branches. The celebration culminates with a special performance honoring beat icon Ken Nordine. Don’t miss Beat the Move with Voci Dance for a modern performance of the Colors album. It’s happening Saturday, October 20 at 2 p.m. at the Orlando Public Library in the heart of downtown. We hope to see you there.
