Start the holidays on a high note

As the holidays approach, the Orange County Library System invites you to get in the spirit of the season with a Second Saturday Holiday Concert featuring local musician Katie Brown. Come hear Brown play classic holiday music on piano as well as modern favorites. It's happening Saturday, December 11 at 2 p.m. at the Orlando Public Library.

Although the temperatures defy winter, OCLS will still treat you to a winter wonderland. And it promises to be sweet when Gigi Valentin of Le Gigi's Bakery presents a cake decorating demonstration called Winter Wonderland Wedding Cake. In addition to being an accomplished baker, Gigi is the author of Le Gigi's Bakery Favorite Recipes. Books will be available for purchase following the cake demonstration. This event will be Sunday, December 12 at 2 p.m. - also at the Orlando Public Library.

Finally, Central Florida authors will be out in force on December 18 when the
Local Authors Festival comes to the downtown library. This is a great opportunity to meet area writers and finish up your holiday shopping. Books will be available for purchase from noon - 4 p.m., and there will also be the chance to win terrific door prizes. See page 14 and 15 for details.

As a reminder, all library locations will be closed for the Christmas holiday on Friday, December 24 and Saturday, December 25. The Orange County Library wishes you a pleasant and peaceful holiday, and we look forward to serving you throughout the New Year.
