Soar with Reading this Summer

School may be out for summer but the Orange County Library System is helping area students retain their reading level with our annual Summer Reading Program. Free, fun events are offered at all our libraries so be sure to join us for an entertaining program near you.

And while we're on the topic of reading, OCLS is participating in the Soar with Reading campaign which encourages kids to learn about the world around them through imaginative travel - reading books and playing learning games that take them to new places. Join us for a special kick-off featuring PBS KIDS characters, Random House authors and JetBlue crew members. It's happening Friday, July 22 at 10:30 a.m. at the Orlando Public Library.

Did you know July is Smart Irrigation Month? In honor of the occasion, OCLS is hosting a series of Smart Irrigation Workshops at multiple library locations. Representatives from Orange County's Water Division will show you how to get the most out of your in-ground system as well as how to efficiently and properly irrigate lawns.

As a reminder, all Orange County library locations will be closed Sunday, July 3 and Monday, July 4 for Independence Day. Here's to a star-spangled holiday - enjoy!

Avoid the Summer Slump with SRP!

School's out this month and the Orange County Library System is again hosting an entertaining Summer Reading Program to keep our students reading over the school break. Summer is also a great time to make saving money a priority and OCLS is here to help! Head to the West Oaks Branch on Saturday, June 11 for the Savvy Savers program at 3 p.m. where you'll get tips for cashing in on big savings with effective coupon strategies. Join us and let the savings begin.

Did you know that June is National Rose Month? In celebration of the occasion,
Mark Nelson of Nelsons' Florida Roses and author of Nelson's Guide to Florida Roses will appear at multiple library locations to share expert advice on successfully growing roses.

Please accept our delicious invitation to dine at any area Pollo Tropical on Tuesday, June 7 from 5 to 8 p.m. It's Library Benefit Night at the restaurant which means when you present this flier about the event, Pollo Tropical will donate 20 percent of your total tab to OCLS.
