It's hard to believe that August is here and the summer school break is coming to a close. As school starts this month, the Orange County Library System thanks the thousands of area students who participated in our annual Summer Reading Program. We hope you enjoyed it, and that it helps you return to school refreshed and ready to take on the next grade level.

Start the month off by taking in a performance from the Atlantic Coast Theater group. Follow along as two tourists discover a treasure chest full of historical artifacts and are magically transported back in time for an entertaining journey through Florida history. Join us for this special presentation of Florida Treasures on Saturday, August 3 at the Orlando Public Library at 1 p.m.

Ever dreamed of doing what you love and getting paid for it? Here's your chance to learn how. Virginia Hartley, owner of Ginger's Jams, Jellies and Such, will share the experience of turning her hobby of making jams and jellies into a successful business. Virginia will be speaking at the Orlando Public Library on Tuesday, August 20 at 6 p.m.

While summer may be ending, the fun isn't. Please join us later this month to design and build a newspaper fort. It's fun for the whole family and it's happening on Saturday, August 31 at 11 a.m. at the Winter Garden Branch Library. Let the building begin!
