Orlando Oriental Brush Painting Society Demonstration

The Orlando Oriental Brush Painting Society had several art pieces and related items on exhibit at Southwest for the past few months. The exhibit will officially close on February 28th.

The Society is a group of artists who are continuing their education in the long established techniques of Chinese brush painting. The study of brush painting requires the use of a bamboo brush, black ink or watercolor pigments, and rice papers that are soft and gentle. Chinese brush painting demands discipline, first of oneself, and then of one's tools.

On January 14 several instructors from the Society presented a demonstration and class to 38 children and adults. Participants had an opportunity to learn and practice specific chinese brush painting techniques using watercolors and rice paper. If you missed this great program, you will have a chance to attend another demonstration by the Society on June 3, 2006. Watch for more details.
