Tech News to Use - Online Communities Important to Many People

The Digital Future Project recently released its sixth annual report concerning the Web's impact on society. Some of the major findings:
* 43 % of Americans who belong to online communities feel just as strongly about their membership in them as their real-world communites.
*More than 40% of Internet users say the Web helps them stay in touch more with family and friends.
*The number of U. S. bloggers and the number of people who post photos has doubled since 2003.
*Majority of parents feel their kids spent the right amount of time on the Web.
*Despite kids' opinion that Web access helps their schoolwork, 3/4 of parents report no change in their grades.
The overall findings seem to indicate the Internet's growing importance in the social lives of Americans.
