Rae Delfosse Oils and Watercolors Exhibit January - March 2008

MVC-001F.JPGRae Delfosse, local artist is currently exhibiting her oil and watercolor paintings at the Southwest Library January through March 2008. Rae began her art training during her teen years in Chicago at the Art Institute and the Frederic Mizen Academy. After obtaining a degree in art education, Rae taught high school art in the Jacksonville area for many years. She also co-founded and taught at a local art school and exhibited her art work in many galleries and art shows over the years. Rae relocated to Orlando in 2006. Today, Rae paints nature scenes of Florida flora, scenic views, portraits of children, and old world architecture using primarily oil and watercolor. Rae's aim is to create works of art which bring joy to people in their homes and workplaces.

If you are interested in learning more about watercoloring painting, register to join Rae in a demo/class on Saturday, March 8, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at the Southwest Library. Southwest Book Club Goes Green!

During their 3rd year anniversary celebration on January 15, attending members of the Southwest Book Club were each given an OCLS's orange "green" bag by an anonymous donor. Everyone here wants to say "Thank You." The OCLS's green bags can be purchased at any of our locations for $1.41 plus tax.

Southwest Book Club Meets January 15

The Southwest Book Club will meet on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the Southwest Library to discuss the book, Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See.

An evocative story of friendship set against the backdrop of a nineteenth-century China in which women suffered from foot binding, isolation, and illiteracy. The novel follows an elderly woman and her companion as they communicate their hopes, dreams, joys, and tragedies through a unique secret language.
